Online Counselling

I use Zoom video software (which is end to end encrypted) to offer online counselling, providing an effective and secure way for us to connect.

Our first session will last around half an hour and is free of charge. This will provide an opportunity to discuss your concerns and decide if how I work meets your needs.

Following this, there is no obligation to continue and you are free to leave whenever you wish.

Should we decide to continue, I will send out an invitation via email to attend sessions via Zoom and we will meet each week, usually at the same time. Sessions are 50 minutes in length.

I am professionally committed to protecting your confidentiality and privacy and adhere to the ethical framework of the BACP.

Benefits of Online Counselling

Offers more convenience and makes counselling more accessible

Waiting lists may be shorter

You may feel more comfortable engaging in therapy from your own home

Secure inscription software offers confidentiality and peace of mind

Online therapy can increase availability of more specialised services

Some people feel more comfortable with online therapy than attending a clinic which may compromise confidentiality

Things to Consider

Are you comfortable using internet technology to access therapy and do you have access to a laptop with a camera?

Do you have sufficient broadband speed?

Do you have a private space in which you can have your counselling session each week without interruption (including from family and children)?

Would you feel more comfortable having face-to-face counselling?

Do you feel able to discuss your problems via the internet?

Online counselling is not suitable for all presentations

In an emergency or if you feel you are in crisis, online counselling does not provide sufficient support

If you need urgent support please contact NHS mental health services (111 or 999 or go to your nearest A & E department) or call the Samaritans (www.samaritans.org) on 116 123 or Vetlife (www.vetlife.org.uk) 0303 040 2551.
